MY PHD THESIS ON STRATEGY EXECUTION
My research, speeches and publications on strategy execution builds on my PhD research at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University – one of the top business schools in Europe. In 2008, I received my PhD on a PhD thesis on strategy execution.
The ability to develop and implement new strategies quickly and effectively is crucial for any organization. Despite its strategic importance, many organizations fail at strategy implementation. Because of its high failure rate, achieving successful strategy implementation remains a continuing challenge for managers. The aim of my PhD research was to understand my so many strategy executions fail and how successful execution can be achieved.
My PhD thesis investigates strategy implementation or strategy execution and its reasons for success or failure. It reports on a qualitative survey of 55 executives responsible for strategy execution. The study develops a comprehensive framework for strategy execution. The powerful framework incorporates 24 success factors that are related to the process, content and context of strategy implementation. Collectively, these tools help organizations plan, implement and manage their strategies but also monitor, learn and adapt their strategy implementations to achieve sustainable organizational success.
